After CCTV's "nipplegate" scandal, direct from Chengdu comes the "nipple bra."
Raisin smuggling, anyone? A Chengdu inventor has created a nipple bra that he believes will revolutionize women's undergarments.
Billed by its creator as a new, innovative design in women's undergarments meant to promote the health and humanity of women everywhere, the nipple bra features two small cups that encapsulate the nipples. When worn, the bra creates the appearance of erect nipples.
Wang Shunqiao, the 63-year-old man from Chengdu who designed the bra, explained, "All the bras on the market today create a lot of pressure on women's breasts, especially on the nipple, causing deformities and abnormalities of the breast. It's like the Himalayas without Mount Everest; there's something missing of the beauty and robustness of the female form."
Wang said that he's noticed "over 10" apparently braless women walking down the street and "therefore I believe that this prominent-nipple style will be a trend. I've talked it over with my nieces, and they all believe that my creation is really new and unique. They said that if their teachers and parents approved, they'd wear one."
But Wang says most people don't get it, including his daughter and wife. "All the neighbors laugh at me and call me weird and debased," Wang said.
Wang started inventing after retirement, when he decided he'd rather create than play majiang or dance. He said he's already been awarded 29 patents.
Of 15 women a Sina reporter surveyed on Chunxi Lu, 13 said there's "absolutely no way" they would wear such a bra. The other two women said, "I wouldn't try it myself, but Uncle Wang should give the TV anchors a call. He'll definitely make a lot of sales."
Wang is also convinced that the bra is better for a woman's health than ordinary bras, as well. "Friction caused by the fibers rubbing against the nipples can also cause a blockage of the mammary glands, leading to illness," he explained.
The deputy head of the Chengdu Military Hospital department of plastic surgery and cosmetology said that a well-fitting bra should have no impact on a nipple. A doctor from Huaxi Hospital's plastic surgery and cosmetology department said that the majority of breast disease and abnormalities usually arise from internal problems, not external pressure.
Despite all the evidence pointing to the contrary, Wang believes in his product, going so far as to take out an RMB1 million patent on it. He thinks the bra will revolutionize the world of women's undergarments.
"In other people's view, my way of thinking is very cutting-edge. They don't understand it, but I still have a lot of confidence in my creation. Prominent nipples are actually a new step in aesthetic appreciation. Sun Yat-sen liberated women's feet; now I will liberate women's chests," Wang said.
