Chengdu taxi drivers invited to smash their enemies

From Chengdu QQ:
140 illegally operated vehicles were destroyed, among them 73 fake taxis on May 31 in Xihe Town in Longquan County's Yi District.
A spokesperson said that this is the first such "mass destruction of vehicles" event of the year. More than 50 (legal) taxi drivers were invited to the event and given iron rods to crush their "foes."
At 2 p.m., 140 vehicles were parked in four rows in an otherwise empty lot. At the call of an attendant, a bulldozer reared its head and came crushing down on one of the vehicles, instantly smashing its windshield and roof.
Nearby, taxi drivers were busy smashing windows and headlights.
"These scoundrels rip off everybody. They're the enemy!" said cab driver Liu Yang as he smashed four vehicles.
Some time ago, Liu's cab had been replicated, and for the past year, he had been bewildered by the numerous stoplight-camera tickets he received as well as the customer complaints logged by his taxi-operating company. In reality, the violations weren't his.
Last month, the clone was found out, and Liu notified. In addition to his, over 30 other vehicles were seized by law-enforcement officials.
According to one such official, these vehicles are refurbished or assembles from spare parts and made to look brand new.
Apart from this car-crushing day, there will be three more such activities this year.
