Storms hit many of southern China's provinces this week, causing serious flooding around the country. In Sichuan, Yibin's Luzhou was heavily hit.
From 11 p.m. on Friday to 12 noon on Saturday, up to 177.8 milimeters of rain fell in Luzhou, cutting off traffic and communications. Over 300,000 people have been affected by the disaster and the rains have caused damage estimated to be in excess of RMB220 million.

Today, the drenched earth underneath a small pedestrian bridge over a river gave way, causing the stone bridge to crumble.
