The announcement that China Eastern was hiring 50 flight attendants for its new operations in Sichuan sparked a frenzy among job applicants.
The three-day recruitment fair, held at the Chengdu Aeronautic Vocational and Technical College, kicked off yesterday.
Candidates must pass through a series of interviews and written exams, including an English written exam, as well as physical exams that measure their height, check their vision, and scrutinize their appearance.
Altogether, 1685 hopefuls signed up to participate in the application process. Many are senior students who will graduate in weeks; others flight attendants with several years' experience. The number of applicants far exceeded China Eastern Airlines' expectations, said a spokesperson.
Applicants must be Sichuan residents, possess a college degree, and be no more than 25 years of age.
