At least 38 people are missing due to floods and landslides in Wenchuan County, reports Xinhua. This update comes after the original early-morning estimate of 32 people missing.
In Yingxiu Town, 32 people were in prefabricated hospital buildings that were destroyed by flooding.
In Yingxing Town, another 5 are also reported as missing. The nearby Xuankou Town and Sanjiang tourist area have also been affected by landslides.
Around 10,000 people have been evacuated from the area.
Hundreds of vehicles and people are trapped on the 213 highway going into Yingxiu.
Wenchuan was the epicenter of the 8.0-magnitude earthquake in 2008.
Sunday has been announced as an official nationwide day of mourning to remember those who have died or suffered in this season's rainstorms and subsequent floods and landslides. Flags will fly at half mast and public entertainment will be suspended.
