The crosswalk lights that never turn green

Sometimes crossing the street takes longer than you expect.

Especially at the intersection of Jindong Lu and the Second Ring Road, where the pedestrian crosswalk lights never display the green walking man.

Instead, traffic lights in all directions go red for about 3 seconds during each cycle. But throughout this time, when pedestrians should cross, the pedestrian lights continue to show the red standing man.

After a perplexed forum user posted his experience waiting for over 10 minutes for the light to change, others started chiming in. "I've waited there for over 20 minutes!" enraged," said one. Over 100 users replied to the thread.

What do the traffic police say? It's supposed to be this way to "in order to clear the intersection to ensure the safe passage of pedestrians and vehicles."

  I know that corner, pass it maybe 4 times a week. It's best to ignore the stupid traffic light there (and everywhere else too), as the crossing is partly under construction.
