Chongzhou's Jiezi Old Town (街子古镇) officially reopened last week, and among the visitors were a group of young, bikini-clad women who were specially invited to tour the town in uniform.
From People's Daily Online:
Several young and beautiful female models on the streets of the ancient town Jiezi of Chongzhou in Sichuan Province caused quite a stir among passers-by on Sept. 25, 2010. The elderly just ignored them, while the young men were unconsciously attracted to them. A young man even followed the models on his electric-powered scooter and imprudently hit the back of a police motorcycle.
The 20 women were fresh off the plane from a sports-modeling competition in Beijing (going through security must have been a breeze!) At Jiezi, they walked from the Gingko Plaza to the Classic Red City Old Street, to the Comrade River Path, and so on, and finally ended their tour at the ancient temple.
Other festivities during the opening included a foot race, a photography exhibition, and calligraphy demonstrations.
Jiezi town has been under construction for the past two years due to damage incurred during the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake.
