A young pregnant woman was seen strolling near Chengdu's Kowloon Plaza with an umbrella and a blue cable leash latched on to her boyfriend, reported Sichuan News Network and Chengdu Economic Daily, drawing more than 1,400 comments from netizens.
The 28-year-old man surnamed Feng is a senior high school Math teacher. Sporting blue sunshades, Crocs-sandals and Hawaiian berms, the Nanchong-born lad over 1.7 metres tall held a pink handbag and yellow fan, which he used to fan his girlfriend periodically.
The couple was unfazed by stares from onlookers. Feng said he was merely giving in to his girlfriend's whims of owning a pet, as she wants to buy a Chow Chow dog, which he thinks is too expensive.
However, his girlfriend, surnamed Tang, was quick to refute that he has an Internet addiction problem and she was "taking him out to see the outside world". Feng, who smiled sheepishly upon hearing that, is not embarrassed about being walked as a dog, saying that such "performance art" is common in other countries. "Some onlookers thought I'm blind," he quipped.
Kneeling apology for jealousy issues
A woman from Yibin appeared to be out of her mind when she was found kneeling down for hours at the northeast intersection of Funiu Lu and Xiezuo Lu in Zhengzhou, Henan province, according to Sichuan News Network.
Refusing to get up unless her boyfriend forgives her, she rejected help from pedestrians, even when one grabbed her arm.
The 27-year-old surnamed Cao works in a reflexotherapy centre and has known her boyfriend, a former co-worker, for only four months. Two months ago, when her boyfriend, who is more than ten years her senior, left to work in another massage parlour, the couple started having regular conflicts.
"I usually make mistakes but I let him correct me. He has beaten me several times, but as long as he does not break up with me, I do not mind. I like him," Cao said.
Onlookers began to suspect that Cao is mentally unsound as she elaborated on her relationship with her boyfriend.
She said she had found a number on his handphone, of a woman surnamed Yang, and thought that she was her love rival. She called this woman and quarreled with her on the phone, causing her boyfriend to "lose face" as he did not admit to Cao's accusal.
Police patrolling the streets tried to maintain order amidst the chaos of onlookers. In the end, Cao, who wore a white fitted T-shirt and black skirt, was whisked off in a patrol vehicle.
