Big Love Festival postponed and moved to Chengdu

The Mianyang Big Love Music Festival, originally scheduled for October 2 to 5 at the Mianyang Old Airport, has been postponed to "around May 2012," organizers said in an official release sent out this morning. Furthermore, the venue will be moved to Chengdu, they said.

Recently some of the heaviest rains in history have struck the Mianyang area causing landslides and other geological disasters, attracting widespread media attention. The original music festival venue Economic Mianyang City, Special Economic Development Zone, Old Airport site has been soaked to the point of potential subsidence and is now not suitable for the safe set up of stages and organization of large-scale mass gatherings.
Recent outdoor stage collapses in United States and Belgium caused by natural disasters have aroused strong concern on all fronts. In the interest of public safety, Mianyang City Propaganda Bureau sent a letter to the company, requiring postponement and a change of festival site..
