Chengdu fans mourn Steve Jobs' death

News of Steve Jobs' spread quickly around the world—and in Chengdu, where a number of Apple's iPad factories are based, mourners flocked to Apple stores to express their condolences.

Fans organized themselves via word-of-mouth (no doubt with the help of some Apple products) to set up a memorial outside an Apple "club" shop in the new Chengdu East Music Park. By late afternoon the area was filled with photos, flowers, and sticky notes on which fans had scrawled their messages.
Chinese fans of apple are known as "果粉/guo fen," a pun that translates to "apple powder."
The Wall Street Journal blog also has translated a statement on Jobs from China Mobile chairman Wang Jianzhou as well as Chinese netizens' reactions to the news as does the Ministry of Tofu blog.
