Chengdu's semiannual comic, cosplay, and manga convention, Comiday, celebrated its fifth anniversary this year with Comiday 10 at the Century City Exhibition and Convention Center.
Attracting hundreds of visitors to its summer event, everybody's favorite festival of freaky costumes has become southwest China's largest meet-up for animation-enthusiasts and one of the biggest of its kind in China. The two-day event includes performances, technology demonstrations, artist and fan booths, and the absolute highest concentration of pastel and neon-colored wigs to be spotted anywhere in Chengdu.
The Comiday event organizers describe the event as noncommercial and not for profit. In addition to the summer Comiday, a winter Comiday is held at the Chengdu Science and Technology Museum every year, as well as supplementary events like workshops and markets.
