Where to buy
• Decathlon is a French hypermarket for all things sports-related. Divided into sections according to sport (hiking/outdoor, running, tennis, badminton, swimming, yoga, aerobics, biking, and so forth), the store carries mostly in-house brands. Prices vary widely; specialized equipment can be rather pricey while promotions on all-purpose apparel can mean good deals for shoppers.
• Most supermarkets and stationery shops sell basic sports equipment such as dumbbells, yoga mats, jumping ropes, ping pong paddles, and badminton rackets and birdies
• Dedicated sports shops along Renmin Zhong Lu near the Chengdu Stadium and along Yihuan Lu west of Computer City and north of the Sichuan Gymnasium sell hand weights, mats, apparel, shoes, and other equipment for a variety of sports. Some sell heavier exercise machines as well. Prices at these shops are generally negotiable.
• Foreign brands with dedicated shops in Chengdu include Adidas and Nike while well-reputed Chinese brands such as Li Ning, Anta, Peak, and 361 also operate stores around the city.
