Well, better late than never. And the winners of the 2013 GoChengdoo Readers' Poll are ...
WINNER: Cakey Butta
Decadent brownies and cakes, booze-fueled weekend brunches, and breakfast options of this tiny Tongzilin space have taken the hearts (or at least stomachs) of Chengdu's expat.
It closed its doors less than a month ago, but GoChengdooers loved this Swedish/Korean-owned spot for its hand-drip coffee, desserts, sandwiches, and, above all, the friendliest cafe couple in town.
Best Nightlife Venue
With its proximity to Sichuan University and Zongbei, the Blue Caribbean Plaza has become a well-established corner for Chengdu's club-goers, and Jellyfish in particular is, clearly, the favorite among GoChengdooers.
Best Western Restaurant
WINNER: The Spot
The food-serving spinoff of Jellyfish, this open-til-late diner is a perennial favorite for grabbing a bite before or after a night at the clubs.
WINNER: Mike's Pizza Kitchen
Mike's Pizza Kitchen focuses exclusively on its specialty, and it shows: MPK has won the best pizza award every year since it opened.
WINNER: The Spot
There is a full menu available at The Spot, but their burgers late at night get the most buzz.
Best Asian (non-Chinese) Restaurant
This Dubai restaurant on Kehua Zhong Lu is loved for its dips, breads, salads, and, of course, hookah.
Best Chinese Restaurant
It might look like any corner restaurant to the untrained eye, but Yang Yang serves up consistently good traditional Sichuan fare plus French Fries, for low prices, with lightning-speed service, and a (limited) English-language menu to boot.
WINNER: Jellyfish Halloween Party
Jellyfish organizes some of the biggest parties in town, and the Halloween bash is always a much-talked-about event.
Jellyfish Summer Pool Party
As always, we'd like to thank everyone who took time to vote in our poll and we'd like to extend a warm congratulations to all the winners and nominees that appear on these pages and on the online survey.
We would like to emphatically state for the record once again that results of this and every year's poll are chosen by voters and not the staff of GoChengdoo.
