The International Department of the Southwest University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE or 西南财经大学) recently announced that it will offer up to 10 scholarships to foreign students studying Mandarin at the university for the fall 2009 semester. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must have not previously been enrolled at SWUFE.
Applications from students both in and outside of China are accepted; there are no Chinese-proficiency-level requirements to apply.
SWUFE is located just outside the west section of the Second Ring Road.
Further information and a link to download an application are available at the SWUFE International Department website.
UPDATE: As of May 5, 2009, SWUFE has announced that 10 additional scholarships will be awarded to international students currently enrolled at the university. Also, currently enrolled students will be refunded their full tuition fees for the 2009 spring semester upon registration and payment of fees for the 2009 to 2010 academic year (two semesters). Finally, textbooks for next semester will be provided free of charge to currently enrolled students.
