Local photographer Qi Hong (齐鸿) was born in 1962 in Lhasa and has published two volumes of photography, Never More and City Boundary and has exhibited in Berlin, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.
He makes his Chengdu debut this Saturday at the 82 Gallery, a new space for photography art.
The exhibit, "Chengdu, Chengdu," is billed as 21 years of photography in Chengdu and features large-scale black-and-white and color prints of images snapped in the city and on the boundaries between city and countryside.
CHENGDOO citylife published a text excerpt in translation from City Boundary as well as some images from the same volume, which will also be on display at the exhibit. See pages 4 and 5 of issue 21 ("Questions") for this feature.
The opening ceremony for "Chengdu, Chengdu" will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on April 25.
For those who miss the opening, the exhibit will be on display through June 8, 2009. Gallery 82 is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
