What with the high of last weekend's Zebra Music Festival and all, it seems like Chengdu is a happening place for international music events. We won't burst your bubble by telling you that it's still hot news when a Beijing band makes the trek to the spicy southwestern capital (oops, we just did); instead, let's just take solace in the fact that the bands, at least for now, keep on coming.
Tonight Canadian indy rockers (read: four white[ish?] guys in skinny[ish?] pants) Hollerado take the stage at Little Bar amidst their two-week China tour, which includes the usual suspects—Beijing, Shanghai, MIDI Festival, Shenzhen, Xi'an, Changsha, and Beijing once again.
Brought to us by Split Works, the same promoters who brought Canadian art-rock duo Dandi Wind to Chengdu last April (notable for being one of the few if not only international bands to have shot a music video partially in Chengdu), Hollerado should be all guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, with hopefully some excited-to-be-fresh-in-China energy from the band and anything-with-a-beat-is-reason-to-pogo jumping around from the crowd.
Storyline start the show.
Local rockers Storyline open the night at 8. Tickets are RMB25, but Hollerado is generously offering one lucky GoChengdoo reader a free pair of tickets.
How do you win? Register for GoChengdoo and send your username in an e-mail with the subject line "Hollerado" to chengdoo [at] gmail [dot] com. Users who have previously registered on the site are eligible, too!
The contest closes at 6 p.m. Beijing time on Wednesday, May 6, 2009. The winner will be responsible for claiming his or her tickets at the Little Bar.
