Hello,
i want to buy an cheap coffee machine and quality good coffee. I have seen quality good espresso coffee in the Metro, around 100 RMB per. Kilo. Is there in Chengdoo any place, or shop for such special western things?
Thank you!

for drip machines/percolators, the best is probably metro. or buying a secondhand one if you can find somebody selling. But a lot of people make do with a "French press" which can be purchased for around 50 RMB at Metro as well as the Lotus Market by the train station. As for the coffee itself, Sabrina's sells decent Yunnan Arabica for around 20 RMB for 500g packages, I think. Any of the foreign supermarkets, Carrefour, Auchan, Ikea, all sell imported coffee as well. Search the listings for addresses.

Sabrina's has new stuff now too that's a bit more expensive, and decent. My roommate and I use one of those plastic filter things that you place on top of a cup and it brews just like a coffee maker (they're so cheap back home, I had my mom send me one because you can buy filters here at Isetan and other places for pretty cheap). I'm sure you can buy them here as well because I have seen them in a couple coffee shops.
Just be careful about having anything shipped from home, as in a coffee machine or a grinder, my roommates appliances all blew up even though he used a converter! The lotus market sells hand grinders and other stuff too. Pretty much anything we leave plugged in blows up whether it was from home or we bought it here. :/

Do you know where I can buy one of those plastic filter things? Anywhere closer to Chuan Da than Metro or the train station?

I own a American coffee roastery in Kunming, China. If your interested in fresh roasted coffee and espresso email me at chris@thechicagocoffee.com or check out our website www.roasters.thechicagocoffee.com. I roast most of our coffee myself so its fresh and properly prepared. We supply our own coffee shop and many coffee shops and hotels around China.

Seems there are quite a few roasters cropping up around China. We're another one, based in Shanghai but with free delivery all around the country. http://www.v-coffee.com/
