    • Hi,

I am coming to China for 3 weeks in October/November and am looking for somewhere to do a cooking course either for a day or even several days.

Is there somewhere you can recommend that is in Chengdu or elsewhere in China?

    • several hostels (sims, mix, etc) in chengdu do one day cooking courses, where you learn about 3 dishes.

other than that, if you want to do a longer course, have a look at http://www.lotusculinary.com/

outside of chengdu, i did a 1-day course at the yangshuo cooking school in guangxi in early 2008 and loved it - http://www.yangshuocookingschool.com/

    • Thank you for the information. I actually ended up in Yangshuo on my trip with some people that I travelled with. Unfortunately I didn't learn any Sichuan cooking but maybe for next time!
      Thanks!

    • Should you desire to really learn authentic Sichuan cooking note that there is a new TWO WEEK intensive training program give at China's top culinary college the Sichuan Higher Institute of Cuisine.

The program is given bi-annually in March and October and limited to 12 students - so each participant can have their own wok.

The curriculum is designed by Fuchsia Dunlop - award winning cookbook author of Land of Plenty (the first English cookbook to focus on Sichuan cuisine). The classes are given by regular college professors, with an English translator present. By the time you complete the course, you'll have enough skills to make an entire Sichuan banquet.

      Details are at: www.cookingschoolinchina.com
