    • Does your friend have a Uni degree? Bachelor, Masters, Ph.D.?

Is it your friend's first time as an ESL teacher in China? Have they taught ESL anywhere else?

Is your friend a native speaker from Aust, Brit, Can, Ire, US, Sth Africa?

Higher education, ESL/teaching experience, and being a native speaker from one of those 6 locations all make it easier to get jobs in China, especially in major cities.

Of course, in some areas, it's still possible for people who don't have all those attributes to get jobs, but it's getting more difficult as the Chinese authorities are getting stricter on enforcing these requirements for ESL teachers.

It's sometimes easier for people *without* these requirements to be given poor working conditions, and to be given the incorrect visas, etc.

I'm sure your friend would get some leads from his/her CELTA course, but they might also check out:

      www.eslcafe.com (aka Daves ESL Cafe)
      www.eslteachersboard.com
      www.seriousteachers.com

There are many others out there too.

      Good luck to your friend.

PS. Any particular reason why your friend didn't post here personally?

    • Ooops... My New Zealander friends are not going to be happy with me!!!

People from NZ are the other (7th) main area where native English speakers in China come from.
