I'm planning on coming from Shenzhen to the Zebra Festival this year, but I can't find ANY info online. Is it still going one? Will it be over the May Holiday? Can anyone point me towards some info online?
There will be another Zebra. But only 2 stages, no dj stage. Music stops at 10 p.m. That's what I've gathered and regard as certain.
The organizers are LATE! with bringing out infos, so there is a lot of gossip going on. I expect a lot of last minute action & changes this year, as the major sponsor seems to be a bit less generous once again
As soon as we know more we will make it public of course. Till then be patient or join the gossip.
was away for the weekend so dunno exactly when the info became available since the last posting, but from what i can gather from myzmf.com via my trusty pal, google translator, just now, there will be the sky and earth stages, i *think* the lineup's going to be announced on wednesday, tickets are still 80 per day—although no word on 3-day passes, and the weirdest thing is that it appears there's going to be some kind of 'american idol/supergirls' judged competition.
until wednesday! :)
::SIGH:: how lame... why can't they just invite some outside bands?!!? last year was a total disappointment (personal opinion).
So it officially goes on three days
Saturday April 30 till May 2nd
I think we can't expect anything like what happened at a festival in Taiwan last week:)
I can't imagine the music being that good to wanna strip down!!
This one should answer most of your questions:)

Looks like the DJs will take over the Sky Stage after 6.30 p.m.
Does anyone have any information on camping at the festival?
I heard someone mention that you can rent tents there... I can't seem to find any more information about it.
Last Zebras you could bring your tent or rent tents, but I'm not sure about this year as they haven't updated yet.
I'm going to find out tomorrow I guess.
camping wasn't too well organised last year (the way i like indie festivals to be, make no mistake), and in the end i just put my tent up on a random spot and wasn't given any hassle. the fact that we could party at the electronic panda stage until late (and that there were weekend passes), meant that security didn't bother if you stayed on the inside after the main acts finish. not so sure if they'll just kick everyone out after the show? i tried calling the organisers (beijing number on the website's contact page), and they didn't know if there was camping or not.
i'm still going to try, though.
Yes there will be camping. This is the reply from the organizers:
"there is indeed camping and there will be tents available at the site"
I also just noticed, the map on the chinese version of the site points out where you can camp.
From what I hear most people plan to go the second day? Is that true? I thought Day 1 had the best line up and day 2 the weakest (but people "naturally" tend to show up the second day, so they save the better acts for the other two days).
I have to teach on Sunday :( I'm going to attend the Saturday and Monday. I guess you will be able to camp there from Friday night?
Can I buy tickets at the gate or should I buy in advance?
@lbslbs: you could always buy tickets at the gate without waiting too long in the past, can't imagine it to be different this year.
If you are in a rush get the ticket in advance, otherwise you can buy them either at the gate or sometimes get them a bit cheaper from people who bought too many.
