    Hello GoChengdoo-ers,

I'm moving to Chengdu next week and want to

start learning some basic conversational Chinese almost as soon as I arrive.

I'd like some advice on whether to enrol in a school or just try and find a local to exchange my English with. Ideally i'd like to learn on the street and in real-life situations e.g. ordering food, getting a taxi etc

    thoughts?

The first task would be to find out which method works for you

If your focus is conversational Chinese on the streets you could hang out in cafe, bars, make friends with one of the staff or owners and learn the local tongue. And download some apps that help you, first and foremost dictionaries and OCR
