I stumbled across this little gem of a restaurant yesterday.
The service was great, waitresses spoke very good English. The food was well presented, very tasty and would not be out of place in any City, in the world.
I don't understand some of the negative reviews here and although it may be a bit pricey by Chengdu levels, it's about average for a London restaurant, certainly not Michelin star prices!
The atmosphere could have been a bit better, but the manager asked how everything was as we left and I gave her a couple of suggestions, which I'm sure she took on board and I felt that overall they were trying to make the evening special, not just somewhere to eat.
All in all, if you want some fantastic food and proper service, then I highly recommend trying this place.

By far, the best western food in chengdu. expensive, even in european standards, but it's a really good place to bring people you want to impress.
Ate scallops, rib-eye steak and panna-cota.

The restaurant is expensive – true but for the quality food offered the price is faire. Besides for European standards the price is reasonable for this type of meals and restaurant. The staff is not very efficient – true but this is the case in many places if not all. The Italian chef is a really nice person and I and my friends enjoyed the dinner and the attention. I would go again and I am recommending it to anyone who wants to have a nice time and great food on a special occasion.

I went a couple of weeks ago and was really disapointed with the lasagna. So what if the Chef comes from Italy. The prices are expensive considering the cost of ingredients in Chengdu.

If I want Italian food I will go to Italy

Really very disappointed. We were excited by the prospect of real Italian food in Chengdu, especially after just returning from a holiday in Italy.

First- we were kept waiting for 10 minutes (reason unclear) on arrival to be taken to an empty bao jian of sorts, about 5 tables. The whole atmosphere was that there was no one else there.

One settled at our table, we ordered from a surprisingly expensive menu - on a par with the michelin starred in London. We therefore were expecting something spectacular.

The bread was OK, not what we were expecting due to the fact that it was just sliced toast. The garlic butter was quite nice.

Now onto the main courses... The salmon was very salty; the (220 yuan!!!) prawn dish was good but consisted of a meagre 5 prawns and a couple of sticks of asparagus; the Gnocchi was unoriginal - tomato sauce from the can; spaghetti Bolognese was passable, but not much better than any of the other restaurants around - not worth the money; the vegetable tortellini was the only successful one of the night.

The deal breaker ensuring we'd NEVER GO BACK however, was the lasagna. A simple dish, that anyone could prepare, called for excellence to match it's price. What I received was burnt, soggy and was not fresh. The meat was in one block, and the entire dish appeared as if it were simply defrosted from a carrefour package. We alerted the waitress to the burnt meat and pasta, not requesting a refund or new plate - yet when asked if she had passed on our comments to the chef, she replied that baked dishes are often burnt, due to the fact that they are indeed baked in an oven.

We arrived excited to try a new restaurant, but left with a horrible taste in the mouth. Could have had a much better night in the jiaozi restaurant across the road, for 1% of the price.

Honestly, it's the best high class 5-star quality dining of Italian food in Chengdu. Don't go there expecting to be cheap. The money you pay is well worth it. The Chef will cater to your needs with helping making you satisfied with what you are ordering and if there is something not on the menu, he can personally make it himself. Every time I go there I have wonderful Penne Ala Vodka in a pink sauce and it comes out amazing each time! I recommend this places for dates as well as a girls night out!

Yes, I agree sometime the stuff forget who order this dish. seems a little bit nervous. But they are nice, always with smile. Maybe they need more practise.

Recently the chef became very famouse, Newspaper, TV, Ads... I should say he does a good job. Food is decent although the price is higher comparing with other place. But you can find the real Italian food there, like the Fresh Pasta, prosciutto di Parma,Ravioli.

I went there once with my dad and his co-workers. This restaurant (even though you already know its pricey) serves some of the best gourmet dishes in Chengdu. The chef, just came from Italy, even came out and chatted with us for a while. The ambiance is very vintage and old feeling, like a little feel of European dining. The food was well presented and very good. I ended up stealing 2 of my dad's lamb chops by the end of the night.

The only thing they need to improve is the staff. The service was kind of slow and they didn't know which order went to who. All of them are Chinese, but can all speak English. But other than that, Superb restaurant!

To be fair, nice chef and owner, food is decent, live up for its name of anthentic Italian. However, can use a lit'l work on the space, make it more cozy, maybe it will look better at light. the decor is defi not spectacular, unless you are from North Dakota. The place can use a lit'l bit vibes. Price is defi high for Chengdu standard, but of course being once of the "REAL" western food, It should be OK once a while. Love it they offer wide range of wines and also wine by glass. Its a shame that at the end my car parked right outside the restaurant next to the velet got seriously dented, could have a better experience if that didn't happen.

That last review by someone how said they think everything is fake is pretty ignorant. I went here a few weeks ago and met the Chef. Great Italian guy with experience in NY. I'm from NY and we eat a lot of Italian food, this resturant was great. By far the best of its kind in Chengdu. Its very expensive by Chengdu standards, but not by interntional standards. They have some deal with a tile company and the decor is spectacular, the food is great. If you have some extra coin, and want to take that special someone someplace nice, this is it.

    bottom line:
    expensive but very good

I have been to CASA last week. I got the address from my friends. They told me it's the new restaurant only serve Italy food. I like Italy food. Then I had a try there. It's a kind of high level western restaurant with nice envionment and music. The food do have the real taste of Italy. I enjoy the Pan-seared Scallops and Grilled COD FISH very much. Very tender and fresh. Especially, the sauces taste wonderful. I also had Panna Cotta. It's my favourate dessert, finnally I found it in CASA. This made me had a happy ending for my dinner in CASA. By the way, except the delicous Italy food, I saw a lot of Mosaic design there, Amazing Art!

    2nd excellent time at Casamosaico

Four of us went last night to Casa, the second time we've been. I have to say, this place is an absolute gem. If you like interesting and extremely well-prepared upper-end Italian, you must go if you haven't been. We were blown away.

The room was about half full at 8 pm, we stay in milano the smoking room. we started with a bottle of ripasso Valpolicella, really solid and rich. For apps we split the scallops in orange juice reduction, simple grilled vegetables with olive oil (asparagus, eggplant, tomato, zuchini) and a simple mixed greens with balsamic and walnuts. The reduction sauce on those scallops-- oh! sauteed spinach, incredible.

Mains we all passed around included half portions of the risotto e funghi porcini and the gnocchi, both great-- the risotto was incredibly fragrant with white truffle oil and parmesan, and very rich. Portions here are small but very filling and satisfying. We had the tortellini a aceto balsamico, with its creamy balsamic and walnut sauce over fresh spinach and ricotta pasta-- really balanced and different, a little revelation. A simple fettucine bolognese was very nice, although alongside the lasagna we had on our first trip,

Our fifth main was a special, a spectacular rack of lamb dish, with four good-sized chops in a Barolo reduction with a touch of fresh mint, panko and a nicely sharp mustard crust. Simply the best lamb dish I've had in years. Superb quality meat, so well cooked, and like everything at Casa, really well-thought out complementary flavors in the sauce.

For dessert, we had the croccanti, an almond meringue semifreddo-- superb; the carmelized banana a special for that night, with cardamom creme anglais and a thick belgian chocolate mousse, and a cheese plate with a great funky Corsican goat as the best selection-- all were well handled and delicious; my only critical note is that the three cheeses offered were narrow in range-- less variety than I generally like in a cheese plate.

Service was easygoing and attentive, and we lingered over a second bottle of wine. Cassy and Lee, the hostess, remembered our first visit, and both with the chef came by to chat. This is the place-- only real food lover can understand, sorry for others. well well done Andrea and your teem !!!
keep going like that best .....
