Went over Chinese New Year and had a reduced ticket price of 30RMB and children under 130cm high get in free.
Had a great time, great to see the archaeological site and the finds. For the children there are some deer to feed, 2 stages of live music, dancing and the like and the park is filled with lanterns and those sculptures with lights inside of animals.
Didnt bother with the 4D movie.
We ate at the restaurant attached to the museum and it was very good, 4 adults and 2 children ate for 200rmb.

Also there is the Hippo/panda thing that they dug up recently in Tian Fu Square.

It's ok to get a bit of an idea of what was going on 3000 years ago, however
if you have enough time, try Sanxingdui instead (more impressive, but less educational)

I went last week for a wander around and found this a bit expensive in comparison things to do in Chengdu. Its 80RMB entry and then another 20RMB if you want to see the 4D movie (which shows every hour).

It has a nice open park to wonder around in after you have been in the two buildings.

I would definitely recommend this place during Spring Festival. For about 1 month they had a fun fair and a light show. For about 10 dates of the month they also had a massive firework show.

Interesting site, very beautiful architecture and artifacts. Opt for the "4D" movie if you like the music from Lord of the Rings and don't mind being shot in the face with water.
