I go here at least once a week when I don't feel like Chinese food but don't want to spend much. U can eat various curries for about 20 to 30 rmb including a small side of vegetables and usually with some free soup. In fact they recently introduced some mini set meals at around only 10 rmb!! The green tea and red bean dessert is good too and currently on promotion at a ridiculously cheap price of 3 yuan. The taste of the dishes sometimes changes, at times I feel the food is very tasty, but sometimes they seem a bit heavy handed with the spices and the flavours are not at all well balanced. Decor and ambience could be better, I find the service OK, the manageress is always friendly and smil, sometimes they forget to bring the soup or something, but not the end of the world. All in all, for the price I think this place is pretty good and deserves to be more popular. Worth checking out (on good days!) are the mince and broccoli curry, the THAI curry and the Myanmar curry.

The first thing we noticed when arriving at Rice Plus is the wonderful scent of spices. The atompshere is lacking and customer service is what would be expected in China. It is Japanese owned so no real excuse for poor service...however, the food is inexpensive and quite tasty. The Internet never works and the staff is actually quite comically bad! Lots of giggles...definitely recommend take-out. The location is depressing and the drink selection weak. Take it home.

Monumental improvements from the first months. And voila my recommendations for less staff and cheaper prices seemed to come true. I often get a free side dish from Nori which is a great perk.
Glad to see all the positive reviews after a wave of poorly written Ahem "self-touting" reviews which created a bit controversy in initial months.

This gotta be the most underrated restaurant in Tongzilin.
I go at least once a week for the amazing Burmese spicy chicken curry RMB15/20 (big/small). Where in Chengdu do you get a lunch/dinner for that little? And yes it's good and some of the dishes you don't get anywhere else.
Nori the Japanese chef in the background makes sure the ingredients are clean, healthy with no additive (if possible), which is an important aspect considering the dirty kitchens even in upscale places. The food cost and thus value is much higher than other places.
My favorite:
Burmese Chicken
Thai curry
Korean dish (strange combo of pork, mushroom, tofu and egg, but surprisingly good).
Fresh ice cold lemonadeIf you're done with the menu, try the daily special.
@Nori
Please make some more Japanese dishes like Katsu Don!
P.S. Since I'm extremely biased I didn't rate the places otherwise 4.5 stars

Rice Plus reminds me of a cafe back home - warm, cozy, simple, good tunes and nice service. Thank god the food is good, too. The Japanese beef curry is solid, but I prefer the Vietnamese veggie curry and the Myanmar chicken curry - spicy but delicious. Everything is fresh, good quality, cheap and served in generous portions. The potato salad is AWESOME.
Great place for a feed before tackling the crowds at Carrefour.

Rice Plus is the kind of place I wish we had more of in Chengdu: small, quiet, good food, good people, kid-friendly and really inexpensive.
Their specialty is rice-based dishes: curries and stews mostly. They also have an ever-changing selection of side salads and veggie sides. Recently they've had mu'er salad, macaroni salad, potato salad, steamed broccoli with dressing, and my personal favorite, pea salad with bacon and mushrooms.
Their portions are HUGE: if I take my 4yo, we usually split a small rice dish and are still stuffed!
The owner and his wife are super nice and will do any and everything they can to please customers. The last time we went, my son complained that they didn't have his favorite macaroni salad, so the owner went back to the kitchen and had them make a whole new batch! This didn't really teach my son anything, but it was great customer service.
The first time I went, the owner told me that when he and his wife got pregnant with their first child, they came upon the idea of opening a restaurant that sells all fresh, healthy food without additives and preservatives. Some menu items are healthier than others, but they are all fresh and delicious.
The bonus at the moment is that they have reduced prices, although I'm not sure if this is permanent or temporary for the Spring Festival down time. The rice dishes are all well under twenty yuan, even the larges, and the salads are only 3 kuai each!
The location is a bit out of the way; not really close to anything I'd otherwise go to, but it's worth the walk if you're in the Tongzilin area. Hope that it sticks around for awhile!

Been to this place a number of times since it opened, and I like it more each time. The owner is super nice and we sit and chat whenever he's around.
The Japanese curry is really good, and the lunch special is a good deal. The normal prices are a little expensive for what they are, but I will still keep going there. Really liked the Japanese and Thai curries, will probably try a shake sometime soon.

The boss is really friendly! Been going there for the last few months due to the proximity but only for a coffee or a smoothie. Decided to have their special last week and it was really good so went back for a second round. I'll be checking out this week's special, too.

I don't usually write reviews, just read them, but I too thought this restaurant was ridiculous for posting so many obviously fake reviews. But since it was right under my building I decided to try it and completely agree with 3li4s, the food was surprisingly good. Definite minuses though for the ridiculous amount of workers, and the high prices.

All the staff were very friendly. Nice atmosphere. The menu had many unique choices, it was hard to choose. We had the potato salad - it was excellent. Hamburg steak was outstanding Portions were big. i orderd large size, could not eat up. We thought the prices were very reasonable for tje quality of food and the area. We will definitely be back.

We ate at this restaurant on friend's advice and were not disappointed. The food was reasonably priced menu. Both my husband and I had hamburg steak which was excellent. The atmosphere was cozy and seems to be popular with Westerners.
