i gave this lets grind a shot. the espresso was not drinkable, way too strong basically without aroma, all you feel is bitterness and coffee dust. tried some other coffee drinks, mmmh nothing special imho. place also doesn't have a toilet and the seating is not exactly comfortable.
that festival started august 1st this year afair, but exact time may change and it's hard to verify in advance as information is hard to gather unless you're are in the area or close by.
I've seen a common kingfisher (bengalensis) yesterday at the Wangjianglou Park (Bamboo River Park). I guess if you keep your eyes open Chengdu has an abundance of bird life even in the city center.

I asked a simple concrete question (which species) since there you made the claim that many animals there would be illegal because they were taken from the wild. I'm just honestly curious. If you can't answer that question it's ok, but then your claims appear very credible (and ad hominem doesn't help either).
Thanks for your reply, but I don't feel the question of which animals would be illegal was actually answered. With one exception all shop owners allowed photos being taken in their shops, so it didn't seem they would have anything to hide.
You said many of the exotic animals would be illegal as they are taken from the wild. I'd like to know which on that would be?
Which animals are "taken out of the wild" ?

There are several places to sleep all along the road. We stayed in the first one before. The rooms are not luxurious, but the owner and staff are nice and I recommend to have bbq there at night. I can't find their number atm, but it shouldn't be a problem to just go there and check in if it's not the weekend.
So how has the expat life changed in Xipu? I've been there recently and couldn't see much difference.
They tried to check me at the new Ocean park station. They even wanted to check my water bottle which only happened to me in Chongqing. However if you think you can stop bad people with 1.20m security taitai think again - you may be able to filter out the midget terrorist but not anyone else.
