what a great story you have, im very impressed by the way you kept to your guns.. I have been on a trip too, enjoying the little games that go along the way. Slowly heading to Guilin if I can ever find out how to leave Chengdu!
Had a good smile and laugh at a few of your comments though, keep up the good work :)
oh wow, sounds pretty cool . I am surprised at all the work around Chengdu as I'v only been here a few days.
Is there any other links available to see information on the east railway station regarding timetable and railway maps ?? this info is hard to come by in english whilst travelling through china. :)
I'v been travelling the world for four and a half months with at least 6 or so months to go, and covering many countries and cultures in the process.
Im currently couchsurfing in chengdu, which is a great city from what I have seen. Loads of potential, friendly faces and delicious food.
You have put a lot of thought into that thread, I dont know what to say about it really.. I hope you have some good couchsurfing experiences though, sounds like you need them :)
this sounds like my last couple of months backpacking through russia, mongolia and now china.. everything is harder than it should be, everyone wants ur money and nobody wants to do much about it.
I hope ur trip improved, I know I am looking forward to being able to read or communicate again.. Although im positive the next game of charades I play with friends back home will be mine for the taking.. there isnt a thing in this world i cant act out now :)
PS - whats that lucky H commenting about some banner BS ?? .. and whats with the CAPS. Get a grip dude.
after a few days in chengdu and some time up in beijing I feel using buses is futile unless you can read and speak chinese. The only way I can get around is by foot or bike, if I catch a taxi its a simple process of point at the symbols on a card. I hope one day I can sit down on a bus and know where I'm going :)
thanks mate, its okay i havnt left yet so the information is appreciated. I did do some searching around for maps etc and found the very basic tourist maps etc which mite look nice for a tourist picture but i was hoping more for a topographic map of the entire mountain to plan certain routes, however this has not been achievable. Never to mind, I will push on with the hike up the mountain. I dont know how long it will take to make it up but I plan on getting there as early as possible on saturday and I'l hike til dark to get high enough to make it near enough to the summit so that when i wake up sunday morning i can reach summit . I dont mind if need be to take a bus or cable car to save time on the way down as my friends who are joining me need to be home sunday afternoon. I could stay there all week, i am only limited by my 1 month visa! haha.
I will post my experience and any other information upon my return. So far all I know is that the bus runs every half an hour from 730am at xinnanmen bus station and costs 43 yuan. :)
Shame nobody else wants to join us, should be a good weekend for the trip !
im only in chengdu until next monday, unfortunately. Ive really enjoyed my stay here but there seems to be some good reviews on the street for the lazy pug. I am hoping to pop in there myself and try some of the options on the menu but if not this time, then it gives me another reason to come back . Good to see the website is encouraging honest and open reviews of local business and even better than there is a owner/operator that takes it on board and wants to improve their services. As someone with hospitality experience both bar and restaurant I wish previous employers had the initiative to be more attentive to such things.
