- McEnroe in Chengdu? You cannot be serious
hey monkeytennis!
thanks for the your feedback on the article! and i actually agree with everything you said - about the crap location of the venue, it being the first year, tennis not so popullar in china etc etc.
but i too was raised on wimbledon, and that's precisely why i was so excited about the match. what pissed me off was that these guys are undoubtedly getting paid A LOT to be there, and they (particularly mcenroe) couldn't even be bothered to make an effort to play well. the fact that they are getting paid so much and i had to pay so much to see it just kinda added insult to injury.
and you've seen the over 50s matches at wimbledon - there, you usually get some really great tennis, so i think the argument of the players ages doesn't really hold water.
so yeah you're absolutely right, perhaps i expected too much...but i'm still seething a little:)
ps. the source of the mcenroe rumour was a lot more reliable than the shamrock one, but if i told you who it is i'd have to kill you.

Forums > Food & Drink > Chopstick Etiquette?
Hey there,
I am a food writer (www.jessieandthegiantplate.com) with a strong interest in Chinese cuisine, and I am currently researching for an article on Chinese chopstick etiquette.
So far I have interviewed a couple of people about the rules of chopstick use that they learnt as a child, but I would love to hear from more. So, if any Chinese readers or readers with Chinese-heritage have the time, I'd love to hear from you on this subject.
Please feel free to reply here, or send me an email at jessielevene AT hotmail DOT com
Many thanks in advance,
Jessie

Forums > Food & Drink > Cooking Course in Chengdu/China
several hostels (sims, mix, etc) in chengdu do one day cooking courses, where you learn about 3 dishes.
other than that, if you want to do a longer course, have a look at http://www.lotusculinary.com/
outside of chengdu, i did a 1-day course at the yangshuo cooking school in guangxi in early 2008 and loved it - http://www.yangshuocookingschool.com/
