@BoBo - Everyone's entitled to their opinions, but it seems pretty harsh calling Chengdu a "hole" and the ugliest place you ever lived in. I don't what other cities you've lived in but Chengdu seems to be far from the hell on earth that you feel it is.
Ever been to Jakarta? I would place that city high up on the list of unpleasant places to live in Asia. The roads there are pretty much just places where cars join a slow moving queue to get to where you want to go. Pollution is of course horrendous and you basically cannot walk anywhere because it's too far and too unpleasant. They don't have a subway.
I think the best way to get around is by electric bike/ bicycle. It would be a shame if that changes due to city planning making bike lanes smaller or non-existent or by reducing the number of places you can park a bike. As bicylcesAREawesome says, going around Chengdu by bike is also great fun.
I have a brand new Malkolm office chair which I bought from Ikea on the 14th March for 699 RMB. I still have the receipt which you can have in case of warranty issues.
I have assembled it but have to now accept that it's a bit too large for the space I want to use it in!
If you were thinking of buying this chair from Ikea, or an office chair in general, you can have it for 550 RMB. (Delivery not included).
It's ready assembled so you don't have to bother with the assembly hassles.
Have a look at the Ikea link below for details.
That place Ziich is talking about is called 华越楼 HuaYueLou and it's in the new 水井界 ShuiJingJie area which is next to Lan Kwai Fong.
It's right next to the Shangri-la and Mooneys.
Some people think it's all LKF but that new development is so much better than crappy LKF.
(Off topic, what a waste of money for that waste of space street!!).
Chengdu doesn't have many Vietnamese restaurants, so it's perhaps not saying much that I think that's the best one I've come across!
But really, it's not bad at all and I've been to Vietnam and generally like to eat Vietnamese food whenever I can find it.
They have pretty decent lunch set menu, 48 Kuai for various things.
I like their Vermicelli salad with BBQ Beef!
Don't know how you're getting hit by e-bikes so much or colliding with other pedestrians on the street. Either you believe you have absolute right of way, and just walk in a straight line oblivious to all around you, or you are the unluckiest person in Chengdu!!
That first post reads suspiciously like an advertisement...
