I came back to China to do some travelling and I'm now in Hangzhou.
Last week I applied for an L visa extention, expecting 30 days but was told the limit is now 15.
The officer said I could apply for a second 15 days in Ningbo (because that is where my itinerary said I'd be at the expiry date).
What I couldn't find out was could I apply for that second 15 days in Hangzhou if I was still here as my itinerary wasn't exact.
Also, should I wait until the first 15 day period has begun before reapplying.
Can anybody advise me on this?
My sister wants to go backpacking in China for two months.
The visa requirements ask for a detailed itinerary of her plans, evidence of funds and a letter from an employer.
Like me, she isn't that into planning in detail (she could make it up but this would mean working out a schedule and in effect planning the whole trip in detail).
She has more than enough savings to travel around and bank statements to prove it.
However, she doesn't have a job (hence the decision to spend two months in China).
Do the visa officers really need a letter of employment? How detailed does the itinerary need to be?
The alternative is an invitation letter from a Chinese citizen.
Most of the people I know in China are University students and I think the inviter needs to a "working adult".
Is this so?
The problem here is that the few people in this range that I know are teachers or owners of schools. This would make it appear that my sister is going to China to work, which is not the case.
Also, do the authorities require tourists to stay with their inviters?
My sister will not be doing that and most likely never meet them.
Is the inviter just vouching for the intentions of the tourist? To travel and not to work, etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm not in China anymore but a friend of mine is traveling.
He wants to stay longer than he had originally planned and was told by another backpacker that he can renew or extend the visa he is on.
However, he can't find any information on this.
I've googled it and I can find nothing.
Is such a thing possible?
If so, what does he need to do?
