Peter's is what it is. Slightly overpriced, but generally reliable. There are good days, there are bad days. There are times the food comes out and it's great, and there have been a few times I've had to pick bones out of their chicken dishes. That having been said, it's generally pretty dependable, though by no means great.
Everything there is variable (it's China) but within pretty reasonable limits.
I give this place two stars. Some of the entrees are alright, and the specialty sodas are nice. In its defense, I have to give it credit for nice deserts. That having been said, the service is usually bad, it's over priced, and most of their food is pretty lousy.
Without a doubt, my favorite place in Chengdu. The owners are welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere is clean and comfortable, the food somehow even TASTES clean and healthy. I've had just about everything on the menu, and I've never had anything I didn't like. I've even been willing to try food that I'd have otherwise passed on simply because of how good prior meals had been, and I was surprised at how things that didn't appeal to me could be made so tasty. The selection of books is nice, and the clientele are usually worth talking to. I've made quite a few good friends over a sandwich there. Favorite place in Chengdu, 100%.
