    • Forums > Travel Sichuan > Train into Tibet (possible?).

Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase a train ticket (in person) at the North Train Station from Chengdu to Lhasa for early September? One travel agency I was interested in using (Access Tibet Tour) told me that they are not able to book an inbound train to Lhasa because it is a very popular time of the year to travel there; the implication is that they are probably booked up by now or it's more trouble than it's worth.

If I can buy a train ticket myself:

      1. Do I need to book my tour package first?
      2. Do I need to show my Tibet travel permit first?
      3. Has anyone done this or does everyone fly in?

      Thanks for your help,
      M.L.Dre

    • Forums > Food & Drink > Restaurants along 一品天下大街 (yi pin tian xia da jie)?

      Hi -

Would anyone be able to recommend a good restaurant along 一品天下大街 (yi pin tian xia da jie) off Shu Han Lu in northwest Chengdu (between 2nd and 3rd ring roads)? With a magnificent gate at the entrance, lots of restaurants, and showy neon lights everywhere, good food seems promising. However, I can't seem to find anything on-line about it. Any ideas?

      Thanks for your help,
      M.L. Dre

    • Forums > Travel Sichuan > Tips for JiuZhaiGou travels.

      Hi -

We are interested in spending a week (or more) in JiuZhaiGou Valley. If anyone can provide recommendations on 1) how to get there 2) where to stay (Tibetan homestead?) and 3) overnight tours/travel guides, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for any info you can provide. We're avid backpackers and wouldn't mind roughing it to see the more spectacular views.

      Thanks,
      M.L. Dre

    • Forums > Travel Sichuan > LeShan/Mt. Emei overnight tours.

Can anyone recommend a good tour company that can take us on an affordable overnight tour of LeShan and Mt. Emei? Transportation to each location would be needed and an English-speaking tour guide is preferred. Thanks for your help!
