@merior, I think HannahP was asking how not to get poisoned with fake alcohol in Chengdu, what does have to do with the UK? I guess it would be equally helpful to recommend a place in the US where she could pick up some brain melting moonshine. A little defensive are we?
Anyway, something that would be helpful would be mentioning something like only buying alcohol at an established grocery store like Carrefour, Auchan, Ole', or Treat. Although this isn't 100% fail proof.
Or just drinking at the Lazy Pug works.
For 40 RMB their Smackerburger is in my opinion, the best burger value. Anyone outside of the restaurant biz actually paid attention to beef prices lately?
Their desserts, not even considering the price factor, are excellent.
You would need to eat 20 bowls of 6 quai noodles to get that amount of meat. Sorry but I don't get why expats so often complain about the price of foreign food in China. Obviously they never thought 2 seconds about comparing the quality and quantity of ingredients, ambiance, and service mentality to a the prices of comparable local restaurant.
Really its hard to knock Leanna's that much, yeah their location isn't great, decoration isn't luxurious, their staff exactly isn't up to 5-star levels of service, and apparently they are besieged with roaming packs of rabid children. But lets be fair, for the price your getting your money's worth.
Not quite sure what Mr. Ramsay below is talking about but I seriously doubt a
family operation is bothering to fill their pizza's with whatever chemical combo he is suggesting.
Anyway, I have ordered from Mike four times. His pizzas are the best in town hands down.
