the place is called BAKER&ROAST and they do sell bread - it's 18rmb for a big ol crunchy loaf of rye, whole wheat, baguettes etc. haven't tried the loaves yet but they look great and you can apparently get them served up sliced with butter.
i had the mini foccacia there and it was solid. looks like they've got nice coffee-making facilities as well.
i am super impressed by the cleanliness of the place and how it sparkles like the lobby of the shangri-la.
Rice Plus reminds me of a cafe back home - warm, cozy, simple, good tunes and nice service. Thank god the food is good, too. The Japanese beef curry is solid, but I prefer the Vietnamese veggie curry and the Myanmar chicken curry - spicy but delicious. Everything is fresh, good quality, cheap and served in generous portions. The potato salad is AWESOME.
Great place for a feed before tackling the crowds at Carrefour.
Probably my favourite restaurant in Chengdu. The food is pretty simple and homestyle, but what sets it apart is it is always consistent, and always good value. Fresh veg, quality ingredients.
The chef salad is amazing, love their bagels, nice home-made soups, good pizza, chicken sandwich is generous and comes served with various condiments(!!!!), great cheap pancakes w/ warm syrup, cinnamon rolls are delicious.. could go on. Also very much in love with their spiced apple cider.
Thank you for existing, Leanna's.
