My name is Joe, and I've just arrived in Chengdu. I am looking for a 1-to-1 Chinese tutor to help me with basic Chinese speaking skills. I am quite flexible with my time until I start my job in a few weeks time so evenings and weekends are fine as well as most weekdays.
It would also be useful if you could help me get to know the city and help out with a few tasks I need to complete to settle in. Any other advice would also be welcomed.
Hourly rate is negotiable depending on your skill level and teaching experience. I would also consider someone without a teaching qualification but would need your English to be of a good level as I only know a few words in Chinese.

I'm moving to Chengdu next week and want to
start learning some basic conversational Chinese almost as soon as I arrive.
I'd like some advice on whether to enrol in a school or just try and find a local to exchange my English with. Ideally i'd like to learn on the street and in real-life situations e.g. ordering food, getting a taxi etc
Hello Chengdu folk,
I'm moving to Chengdu in around 6 weeks and have a job lined up at Sichuan University. I'm wondering about healthcare/insurance and whether I
should wait until I arrive as I heard on the grapevine that a lot of hospitals wont accept cover purchased out of China.
Can anyone share their experience of taking out healthcare insurance independently (i.e. not through their workplace)? Or if there are any implications to obtaining the Z-Visa without insurance already in place?
Any advice appreciated.
